GotFreeFax Review
December 29, 2010by Gregory A. Sanders for toponlinefax.net
GotFreeFax (www.gotfreefax.com) is an online service offered by Vannet Technology based in British Columbia, Canada.
From free one-page faxes to no-contract bulk list-merge broadcast faxing, gotfreefax.com offers a wide range of ways to get your fax in the hands of your intended recipients.
Outbound Fax Only
If you are looking for a quick and free no-contract way to send a short outbound fax, gotfreefax.com just might be what you’re looking for. Using the browser interface, you can send a free, no-ads fax to anyone in the continental US or Canada. You can choose to use your own coversheet or the basic, online no-ad free cover page. Upload a Word document or a PDF, or you can simply paste or type your text into the online page editor.
Free Service Parameters
GotFreeFax.com’s free fax sending service is truly a free service. Like any free service, it has limits and restrictions. You are limited to three pages per fax, and two faxes per day. If you need to send more faxes or larger faxes, there are a few ways you can accomplish this simply.
Pay Service Options
GotFreeFax.com offers you two ways to meet your outbound fax needs. You can pay per fax by purchasing a single-fax package through PayPal. Ten pages will cost you 98ยข. Twenty pages is $1.98 and thirty pages costs $2.98.
If you know you will need to send more than the occasional fax, you can purchase credit through their Premium/Business Prepaid Fax Service. This involves setting up an account, and paying through PayPal. You can purchase 100-page credit for $9.95, 300-page credit for $19.95 or 1000-page credit for $49.95.
Credits purchased through the Prepaid Service never expire. There are no monthly fees connected with this service, which makes this an attractive way for individuals and small offices to send faxes.
How Do They Do It?
The free service offered by gotfreefax.com is made possible by ads contained on their website, and by ads you will receive via email when you send a fax. There are no ads on your fax, and there are no watermarks, tags, logos or any other identifying marks on the faxes you send.
Encryption and Security
GotFreeFax.com uses encryption on paid outbound faxes, but not on free faxes. If you’re sending critically secret information, don’t use the free fax method. If your fax is not so sensitive, there is no real risk involved in using the unencrypted free service as you are not sending any passwords or user names.
Note that the encryption I’m referring to here is the encrypted connection between your computer and their web server.
International Faxes
You may purchase blocks of international fax credit, which is sold in terms of money, not pages. This means that your credits will be used based on the specific rate for the country to which you are sending the fax. International fax credits are sold in blocks valued at $49.95, $99.95 and $199.95.
