MetroFax Upgrades iPhone App

MetroFax has upgraded its iPhone application to provide subscribers with even greater online faxing functionality. When MetroFax Mobile was first introduced in April 2011, customers could view, download and manage faxes from their iPhone. Now, with the 2.0 version of MetroFax Mobile, customers also can send faxes directly from their iPhone.

“Customers raved about the initial MetroFax Mobile app for iPhone that enabled viewing and managing faxes. With this update, we’re putting the whole fax machine on your iPhone so you can send as well as receive faxes,” said Brent Wayland, CEO for the Bellevue, Washington-based Internet fax company. “But we didn’t stop there. Now you can capture an image with the iPhone camera and fax it. The image is automatically optimized for fax legibility.”

As a companion to the MetroFax Internet faxing service, MetroFax Mobile 2.0 allows users to send and receive faxes 24/7 from wherever they are. Other new features in the 2.0 version are the ability to send a fax optimized image from an iPhone camera, send faxes from Google Docs and Dropbox files in the cloud, and forward faxes to an email address or another fax number. In addition, customers can use contact information from their phone to address faxes, resend a fax, and search for fax messages using either sender name or number. iPhone screenshots provide touch-of-the-icon access for sending a fax, viewing sent faxes and accessing received faxes in your inbox.

These new features complement features incorporated in the initial MetroFax Mobile release, which included automatic notifications of received faxes, downloading or deleting of faxes, viewing fax details and checking account status.

Founded in 1997, MetroFax also has an app for Android phones and plans additional feature updates to complement faxing in the cloud based on technology capabilities and user requests. The free iPhone app is available to download from the App store or by using the link provided on the MetroFax website. MetroFax provides its Internet fax service to businesses and individuals throughout the U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico.
